Dr. Heath Bills
Clinician, DC, CCEP

Dr. Bills graduated The National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, IL (now the Nation University of Health Sciences) in 1999 and has been in continuouse practice since. Dr. Bills has specialized in Sports Injuries since 2002 and obtained the credentials of a Cerified Chiropractic Extremities Practioner (CCEP) in 2009.

His practice has included professional athletes in football, basketball, soccer, ice hockey and mixed martial arts, as well as a variety of Olympic athletes. Dr. Bills has lectured nationally regarding sports injuries and prevention. Dr. Bills has also been referred to as an expert witness in extremities malpractice litigation.

With a keen eye toward the health of the athlete, Dr. Bills spends his spare time supporting local athletic organizations in order to prevent injuries in amateur participants of sports. He believes that proper care of the body will lead to optimal health and wellness for not only the avid athlete but the weekend warrior as well.

Annie Lively
Clinical Massage Educator | Licensed Massage Therapist, CPT, LMT
Annie K. Lively graduated from Liberty University in 2008 with a BS in Kinesiology. She is nationally and state certified Massage Therapist through the NCBTMB, and a certified personal trainer through NASM. Before joining the Advanced Wellness Centre, Annie was integral to an orthopedic physical therapy facility in the Lynchburg area. Annie also has extensive experience as a massage instructor at a local technical college. Her clients at Advanced Wellness Centre include athletes, post therapy patients, and chiropractic, rehabilitative and orthopedic patients. Annie has a passion for both exercise and massage and their role in enhancing one’s physical, mental, and emotional health. She is experienced in multiple massage techniques including chair, relaxation, therapeutic, deep tissue, trigger point, neuromuscular, sports and myofascial release, and applies her knowledge and teaching experience to bring an intentional and professional treatment to each client she works with. In her free time, Annie enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.

Aidan Feore
Licensed Massage Therapist
Aidan, a Richmond native, graduated from The College of Charleston with a degree in Theater Performance in 2005. After completing his degree, he took some time to live and work as an actor overseas. Aidan became fascinated with massage therapy at a young age and, amid his travels, he found himself learning more about the benefits of massage as well experiencing many different techniques form all around the world.  After returning to the states, Aidan received a diploma in massage therapy from Fortis College in 2015, where he graduated at the top of his class as valedictorian. 

Since then, Aidan has made it his goal to help people through medical and therapeutic massage to regain function and live as pain-free as possible. He believes strongly in a mind-body philosophy. The essentials of that philosophy are that a strong mental attitude in regards to people's therapy is just as important, if not more than, what is done physically to the body. Aidan is experienced in many modalities including: deep tissue, sports, myofascial and positional release, trigger point and neuromuscular therapies.  He is currently working to expand on his knowledge and education in structural integration, craniofacial therapy, active therapy techniques and rehabilitative stretching procedures. In his spare time Aidan continues to act and participate in the film industry in and around Richmond and up and down the east coast.

Megan Franz
Licensed Massage Therapist
Megan graduated from the Virginia School of Massage,Charlottesville, VA in 2005. She is certified through The Virginia Board of Nursing. Megan incorporates many techniques into her treatment plans specializing in and combining Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release and trigger point. She loves helping patients find relief and reach a more pain free lifestyle.

“I believe in improving the day to day life and health of patients.” Megan always strives to improve, augment and grow her understanding of the human body and is committed to ongoing education as a part of her practice.

Bronwyn Cotten
Licensed Massage Therapist
Bronwyn is a Richmond native who graduated from the Lotus School of Integrated Professions. She has experience working as an independent therapist in clinics and spas in the Richmond area. Bronwyn came to Advanced Wellness Center because she believed in both holistic care and an integrated multidisciplinary approach to wellness. Bronwyn practices deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, LDM for sinus relief, Swedish massage, and therapeutic prenatal massage. Bronwyn’s hobbies consist of spending time outdoors, local history, literature, theatre and art. She is also a member of an international art collective.

Jennifer Meharg
Licensed Massage Therapist
Jennifer Meharg (aka Jennie) graduated Cum Laude from the Theatre program at VCU and has worked locally and regionally for more than 15 years as an actress, dancer, and puppeteer. During college, Jennie traveled South East Asia to learn and study Tibetian and Nepalese dances. She also studied and performed with innovative dancers and movers such as Maureen Fleming and the City Company at LaMaMa etc. in Spoleto Italy. Believing that mobility is life, she became ACE certified as a Personal Trainer and has worked since 2008 on special populations, especially those with movement disorders.  Wanting to add the healing power of touch to her practice, Jennie studied massage therapy at the Lotus School of Integrated Professions, and received her license in 2017. Before joining the Advanced Wellness team, Jennie ran a personal training/massage therapy studio, which she closed while pregnant with her daughter. She holds additional certifications in Myofacial Release, Active Isolated Stretching, Pilates mat 1, and PWR! Fitness. She uses her knowledge of the human body and movement to her massages, and utilizes mobility  as much as possible. She is experienced in chair, relaxation, deep tissue, and sports massage

Stephen Vesely
Physical Therapist
Graduating with his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2013, Dr. Vesely joined the Advanced Wellness Centre team August 2013.  With a peaked interest in manual therapy throughout his studies, Stephen spent 24 weeks of his clinical affiliations at three different out-patient orthopedic practices in the Richmond and Fredericksburg areas where he received advanced manual training for spinal and extremity conditions.  In addition, he completed 12 weeks in skilled nursing and cancer rehabilitation, providing him with a well-rounded scope of physical therapy and medical practice.Stephen’s true passion lies in utilizing his hands-on approach and strong clinical background in exercise, health, and wellness to restore pain-free mobility and function.  His prior training and techniques match our holistic approach, where elimination of true body impairments, and not just symptoms, are the focus of rehabilitation.  In his experiences, clients recover more quickly and with less risk for re-injury following physical therapy that pairs manual and manipulative techniques with therapeutic exercises, education, and preventive measures. Outside his professional career, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing and writing music, bike riding, weight lifting, and doing anything outdoors.  He is so excited to contribute to and be part of a team of experts who share a common goal in delivering the highest quality of holistic care to its clients.

Aaron Grubb, NSCA-CPT
Fitness Director
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Aaron is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Aaron is a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, as well as Functional Movement Screen (FMS) certified.

Aaron has amassed a 20+ year career in fitness facility management and personal training.  Before joining Advanced Wellness Centre Aaron spent 16 years in Corporate Fitness management. He joined AWC in 2016 with a very specific goal in mind. To build a fitness center and department at AWC that could work in conjunction with a wellness center committed to drug-free solutions for optimal health. One of Aaron's specialties is helping clients recover from back injuries as well as dealing with chronic back problems. Aaron also works with clients to improve athletic performance, weight loss, weight gain, strength improvement, and mobility.

In his free time Aaron enjoys being on the water fishing, weightlifting, football, and anything outdoors.

Fitness Advice from Aaron:

1)  Efficient movement is the foundation for all things physical.2)  If you want to achieve something you must commit to a process and follow it consistently.3)  If it doesn't challenge you it won't change you.

Aaron's Life Rules:

Jamie Gibberman
Jamie Gibberman RDN, CDE is a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator with over 12 years of experience in the fields of weight control, diabetes management, and wellness. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Tufts University in clinical psychology and wanted to mesh her counseling background with her passion for wellness to work in the field of nutrition. She completed her coursework for the Registered Dietitian credential at the University of Maryland and began her career in nutrition research at the National Institutes of Health. Jamie then opened an outpatient nutrition center and diabetes education program at a hospital in suburban Maryland and worked with a Richmond hospital system in their diabetes management program. She has helped hundreds of patients meet their weight and wellness goals. Jamie also has been featured multiple times on WTOP radio in Washington, DC as a nutrition expert.

Alistair Jones, L.Ac.
Alistair Jones grew up in Ohio and received his Bachelor’s degree in the History of Religions from Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1995, where he also began a life-long practice of tai chi. He was pursuing theological training at the Yale Divinity School when he was called to study Oriental Medicine. Alistair first became intrigued by acupuncture when it helped his wife overcome a serious back injury without surgery. Recognizing his passion for helping people heal naturally, Alistair began his formal studies of Oriental Medicine at the Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz, California. While living in Santa Cruz he also became certified as a massage therapist and apprenticed with an exceptional acupuncturist. Alistair completed his four-year Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin in Austin, Texas in 2005.

Upon graduation, Alistair pursued his interest in integrating Oriental Medicine with conventional medicine by working with MD’s in family practice for three years and becoming the Director of Oriental Medicine at the Jefferson Street Family Practice in Austin. Alistair moved with his family to Richmond in 2009 and is thrilled to be working with the team at the Advanced Wellness Centre.

Having studied Chinese acupuncture techniques in school and several styles of Japanese acupuncture, Alistair has come to develop what he calls “Empirical Acupuncture,” which focuses on proving the effectiveness of each point before using a needle. His technique is very gentle and produces changes that his clients can track in their own bodies as the session progresses. Currently Alistair is pursuing continuing education in using auricular acupuncture (related to the ear) as a means for enhancing diagnosis and treatment of his clients’ conditions. In addition to acupuncture, Alistair makes extensive use of Chinese herbal medicine, tai chi fundamentals, and massage to help balance clients’ systems and provide lasting results. Alistair values client education and is a compassionate listener. He considers it a privilege and blessing to help people discover the natural abilities their bodies have for healing.

Jeff Smith
Licensed Massage Therapist
Jeff is one of our many amazing massage therapist here at the AdvancedWellness Center. Jeff is a graduate of Centura College with a associatesdegree in massage therapy. While attending Centura College his main focuswas deep tissue and sport massage. He later obtained certification intherapeutic cupping technique. Prior to joining our family here, Jeffworked for a local spa in Cary Town and was the regional vitamin andsupplemention trainer for a major nutritional retailer. Jeff completed hispersonal trainer certification thru the National Academy Of Sports Medicine(NASM). Jeff’s advanced training and experience in nutrition and fitnessare highly valued assets to his delivery of holistic care. Jeff served inthe US Navy and was selected to the security force division. More recently,he was employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as adisaster housing inspector. Jeff’s motivation to achieve remarkable fitnesshimself, was to help other people avoid the health challenges that hepersonally witnessed growing up.

Dan Estes
Licensed Massage Therapist
Dan Estes is a state and nationally Licensed Massage Therapist with a B.S. is Psychology and Philosophy. He had the privilege of graduating from world renown Cayce Reilly School of Massage in Virginia Beach. Dan’s goal is to aid in the healing, development and manifestation of life force energy into a more balanced expression. Dan utilizes multimodal therapeutic practices of soft tissue manipulation, traditional massage techniques and subtle energy-work in order to provide effective and enjoyable services. Dan has a passion for well-being in all aspects. Health and mindfulness are cornerstones of Dan’s practice. Every session with Dan is special and unique. He has been with the Advanced Wellness Center since November 2018    and looks forward to assisting you!

Adam Giambersio
Smart Fitness, CPT
A graduate of Radford University with a B.S. in Exercise, Sport, and Health Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine. Adam is a Certified Personal Trainer through Smart Fitness as well as Functional Movement Screen (FMS) certified. Adam has experience working with all age groups in leading group exercise, 1-on-1 training, and fitness management. Adam enjoys weightlifting, basketball, and keeping up to date with the newest exercise research.

Adam’s Fitness advice:

1)  Nothing changes if nothing changes.2)  Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint.3)  There is no ‘quick fix’ to improving your health. Understanding from the beginning that it is a process will enhance your success.

Adam’s life rules:

1) There is always more to learn. Never stop growing mentally and physically.2) Do something instead of killing time, because time is killing you.

Nicole Ryan
Physical Therapist Assistant
Nicole Ryan is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. She graduated from South University in Richmond in 2015 receiving a degree in Applied Sciences with focus on Physical Therapy Assisting. She brings a wealth of experience to the physical therapy realm from a variety of settings to include outpatient therapy, skilled nursing, and home health. Nicole is also a native to this region and grew up locally. Her passions are holistic health and wellness, bodywork, nutrition and herbal medicine. She believes in using a holistic approach to healing involving spiritual, physical, and emotional integration to restore the body to proper functioning and healing. Each person is unique and deserves to be treated as such when going through healing modalities. Nicole looks forward to restoring her patients to optimal function so they can be the best version of themselves!

Dr. Cheon Park
D.C.
Dr. Park graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2013 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, the first chiropractic school in the world. Since graduating he has practiced in Maryland and Virginia. He is originally from South Korea and worked for over four years in their healthcare system before coming to the U.S. Dr. Park ventured to the U.S. to study the profession of chiropractic.

After three years as a member of the Troxell Intern Program (Gonstead Methodology Institute) and practicing hundreds of hours, Dr. Park earned certification in the most advanced work associated with the Gonstead System of Chiropractic. Since graduating from chiropractic school, he has treated patients with diverse symptoms ranging in age from three months to 90 years old.
